How to manually set OneDrive for Business to show in Windows Explorer

Whilst moving a client to OneDrive for Business recently we experienced occasions where individual machines would not show the shortcut to their OneDrive folder in Windows Explorer by default (See Below).


The steps below are how to manually set the registry to show this shortcut.

      1. Press (“Windows Key” + r) to open “Run” dialog box.
      2. Type regedit.exe and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.
      3. Navigate to the following location:
        There will be multiple SubKeys. Find the one for “OneDrive – Your Business Name”, in my case “OneDrive – Content and Code”.


      4. Navigate to the following location:
        HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{Your OneDrive GUID} – in my case this is {D8AF3ECE-11AD-4DA9-9054-746338993926}OneDrive2
      5. In the SubKey System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree change the value data from 0 to 1.
        1 is to Add and 0 is to Remove.
      6. Close Regedit.
      7. The results should be immediate but you may need to restart Windows Explorer or your machine to force the results.
